It has been quite a ride so far for Robin.
Leaving her native Fort Lauderdale, Robin attended college at Tulane University in New Orleans. She managed to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1987, in between listening to jazz, eating crayfish, and skiing with the Tulane Water Ski Team. She also served as president of the Pi Kappa Alpha Little Sisters, secretary of the Tulane Prelaw Society, and publicity chairman of Psi Chi and the Psychology Club.
Upon returning to Fort Lauderdale, Robin earned her real estate license. After a year of working in the field of commercial real estate, she felt the pull of the law and followed in the footsteps of her father and grandfather. In 1988, Robin entered the Nova Unviersity Center for the Study of Law and quickly became involved with the Nova Moot Court Society, American Bar Association, and International Law Society. She won the Broward County Women Lawyers’ Association Annual Essay Contest and received the Goodwin Fellowship for assisting her professor with drafting of legislation for the legal rights of the handicapped.
Work soon followed, and Robin clerked for two prestigious South Florida law firms before becoming a Certified Legal Intern for the Broward State Attorney’s Office. While there, she handled numerous jury trials and was successful in locking up the “bad guys.”
In 1991, Robin was admitted to the Florida Bar and, the following year, was admitted to the General Bar of the United States District Court of the Southern District of Florida. Once out in the “real world,” Robin joined her father’s firm, Sobo & Levine and immersed herself in commercial litigation and collection law. An affinity for children also led Robin to become a Guardian Ad Litem for Broward County and later a Broward County Special Public Defender in the area of dependency. In 1996, Robin’s hard work paid off and she was tapped as a partner in her firm, which became known as Sobo, Levine & Moselle.
Not one to stay idle, Robin has been involved with many activities. She is a past president of the Broward County Bar Association Young Lawyers Section, a former board member of the Young Members Section of the Commercial Law League of America, a founding member of the Stephen R. Booher American Inn of Courts, a former Attorney Special Master for the Value Adjustment Board of Broward County, and a former appointee to the City of Plantation Board of Adjustments. Robin currently serves as secretary of the Florida Education Fishing Foundation, Inc., 2nd vice chair for Broward Coalition, and on the boards for Legal Aid Service of Broward County, Inc., B’nai B’rith Justice Unit and the Bench & Bar Committee for the Broward County Bar Association. Robin has been a frequent speaker on areas of collection law and professional responsibility.
In an effort to better serve her clients, Robin merged her firm with The Jacobson Law Group in 2000. When she is not toiling away at her office, Robin is with her husband, Blake, and her proudest accomplishments: her two children.
