Justin has had collections in his blood since early childhood. No doubt the gene was passed down from his father, Jim. Although Justin worked several summers in the firm to earn a little comic book money, it would be many years before he returned as a lawyer.
Born and raised in Hollywood, Florida, Justin didn’t throw his first snowball until freshman year at Princeton University. He majored in philosophy, specializing in ethics and aesthetics. He broadcast Tigers basketball, football, and baseball games for WPRB, the oldest college radio station in the country. Justin graduated from Princeton cum laude in 1992. From there, Justin attended the Duke University, School of Law, where—in addition to his legal coursework—there was intensive training in Bluedevil basketball. He earned his juris doctor degree in 1995 and returned to Florida to begin his legal career.
After two years of cutting his teeth on medical malpractice and product liability defense litigation, Justin returned to his father’s firm in 1997. In the intervening years, Justin has collected millions of dollars for his clients, handled thousands of cases, prevailed in scores of trials, and lived by one guiding principle: “Whatever you’re doing right now; do it the best that you can.” In addition to the collection work, Justin handles many of the firm’s appellate matters and has argued before every District Court of Appeal. In that capacity, Justin has aided in the creation and modification of legal principles that affect collection litigation throughout the State of Florida.
Justin is married to Jeannine, another lawyer, which makes for interesting dinner conversation. They have two beautiful daughters, named—in keeping with the “J thing”—Jadyn and Jara. They live in Plantation with their cat, Tigger. In his free time, Justin can be found cooking a gourmet meal or publishing games for his aptly titled enterprise Blue Devil Games.
