Jeff Piroozshad is the oldest of three brothers and has had an eventful life so far, starting in Brooklyn, New York where he was born and raised. Jeff attended the prestigious Stuyvesant High School in New York City, making the long one-hour commute each day. Jeff liked Manhattan so much that he decided to live on campus while attending Columbia University in the City of New York’s School of Engineering and Applied Science in 1993, majoring in Civil Engineering. Despite his math and science background, the seeds for Jeff’s law career were already being planted as he took elective courses in Constitutional Law and Patent Law (over the Engineering Department’s objection). Jeff also volunteered at the college radio station, WKCR 89.9 FM, broadcasting baseball and women’s basketball games, plus serving as statistician for the station’s football broadcasts and as a panelist on the station’s weekly sports talk show,“The Firing Lion.”.

Fortunately for us, Jeff finally got tired of the cold and snowy New York winters, deciding to take his talents to South Beach in 1997 to attend the University of Miami School of Law. His engineering education and radio broadcasting still not fully purged from his blood, Jeff took elective courses in Construction Law, Copyright Law, Internet Law and Broadcast Regulation. In the summer of 1999 Jeff interned in the Litigation department of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, in their office on the 67th floor of the World Trade Center.

After graduating from UM, Jeff was offered a position at USA Bowling in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with the U.S. Olympic Committee. Jeff worked as both Assistant Director of Coaching and Director of Tournaments and Technology (the “Technology” part coming from him being the only person in the office that knew how to fix their computers). He also did some law work, representing athletes at USOC grievance hearings, and learned a fair bit about media and public relations as well, speaking on behalf of USAB at several bowling industry press conferences.

Did we forget to mention that Jeff has been bowling since he was three years old? And we’re not talking about Friday night glow-in-the-dark bowling, either. In high school, Jeff was awarded the Iron Horse Award for being New York City’s top Senior High School bowler in a ceremony at the Heisman Room of the world-famous Downtown Athletic Club. Also, Jeff was not only the University of Miami bowling team’s captain and head coach in 2000, but he also was named the Bowling Writers Association of America College Player of the Year, and was named MVP and First Team All-American by the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association.

Jeff returned to South Florida in 2003 and practiced with Jacobson, Sobo & Moselle until 2007 when, for reasons he still doesn’t know himself, decided to move all the way to Southern California where his youngest brother and retired father currently live. However, after experiencing his first earthquake (“Hey guys, why is the floor moving?”), Jeff decided that South Florida is the place for him. Despite that he is technically “the enemy” (Jeff is an avid and somewhat boisterous New York Yankees, Knicks and Giants fan), we welcomed him back with open arms in late 2010.
